Few Thoughts

Used a new pair of goggles today and oby did my eyes appreciate it. No problems during or after the swim. I went to lane4 yesterday and picked up some TYR velocity goggles. They are smaller than i am use to bought they felt good. I eye-balled some aquajogger belts but didnt want to drop $30 bucks i something i might not like.

Thought more about the Boerne half IM labor day weekend and decided its best to not due it. Its a tough course and with my downtime i dont think i would be ready. I also think doing it and then the Longhorn half 5weeks later would really be rough. I really want to do well at the longhorn tri and fell its best to just focus on that race for now. Now I can give my knees ample time to heal and still have plenty of time to ramp up for the race. If I start back to biking next week and running 2 weeks after that will give be 3weeks of bike reast and 5 of running and leave me with 12weeks of biking and 10weeks of running until longhorn. the other option is to push everything back an extra week for training and lose a week of biking anf running. i will go with how my legs feel at the end of this week. As a treat after longhorn i would love to go to dallas the folowing weekend to see the big lifetime fitness tri with all the big pros. i am hoping to see that race sunday morning and then slide on over to irving stadium for the cowboys and patsys at 3pm. now thats what i call a weekend!!!!! looks like i need to start recruiting to partners in crime for that road trip.

The tour de france has already been quite interesting. The to prologue winner (Cancellara sp?) destroyed everyone at the end with an time of 8min 50sec when i thought it was going to be tough just to beat Kloden who had a time of 9:03 that no one could touch for most of the day. Then today McEwen and teammates busted the asses to catch the peleton with about 5miles left in the stage and then Robbie hauled even more ass thru a group of 100+ riders to sprint to a win in the final seconds. it was pretty damn amazing what he did. i suspect he will be dragging ass tomorrow.

I followed IM austria today and was blown away by the times being posted. I have heard its a fast course but those times were ridiculous. In the mens AGs 7 men came in under 9hrs and another 2 were 9hrs even. 162 male AGs finished under 10hrs (56 of them in my age group). Are they swimming with a current? riding down a mountain with a tailwind the whole way? I am not trying to rain on their parades but i look at the times of all the IMs and i havent seen anything like that before. I hope its thanks to a super fast course and lots of training and nothing illegal like doping, etc. You always hate to pull the doping card but times like that you cant help but think that.

Last but not least I have been thinking about i new tri bike lately. I cant see myself making a change until possibly next year but damn there are some sweet bikes out there. I love my softride but the positions on the bike are limited and the bike itself has some weight to it. The new frames are really getting aero which can match the softride and with options like enhanced cable routing, etc i cant help but think about a new one. I was looking at the Xlab avenger in the tri mag lastnight and started drooling. i also like the felt B2s and the trek equinox. so much to choose from. i just hate the thought of parting with the softride and its hard to imagine finding a frame that comfortable to ride on a long day.

Comments:
man, you have a lot of plans. Dallas weekend and a new bike! Did we win the lotto???
